On Friday’s Smackdown, Sonya Deville made her first appearance in WWE since SummerSlam in August where she was fired from WWE, in storyline terms, after losing a ‘Loser Leaves WWE’ match against Mandy Rose.
She was seen walking backstage midway through the show with various wrestlers showing shock at her appearance. Corey Graves then revealed she has been reinstated by WWE brass.
In reality, Deville has been off screen following the infamous incident when a crazed individual broke into her house days before SummerSlam, seemingly intent on harming the SmackDown star.
As a result, Deville’s planned hair vs. hair match with Rose at SummerSlam was changed to the match stipulation that allowed Deville to be written off TV whilst she dealt with the fall out from the incident.
Deville was on the verge of a breakout as a top level women’s star in WWE before her enforced absence. Her return will provide a significant shot in the arm for SmackDown’s women’s division.
