WWE SummerSlam Will NOT Take Place In Boston, Says City Mayor

What will WWE do with SummerSlam now?

SummerSlam Venue

I’m what will come as a surprise to few after the events of the last few weeks, it seems that WWE’s SummerSlam, scheduled for Sunday August 24th at Boston’s TD Gardens will need to find an alternative venue.

Boston’s mayor, Marty Walsh confirmed on Saturday that no mass gatherings, events, parades etc will be allowed in the city until Labor Day weekend. That’s September 7th for anyone not well versed in the public holidays of the United States.

With America and most of the world gripped in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, it felt more when than if that WWE would need to make alternative plans for SummerSlam.

Like WrestleMania and this weekend’s Money In The Bank, the strong likelihood is that the event will be held either without fans, or with a very small audience, at WWE’s Performance Center. However, with restrictions loosening in the US across various states, there is a possibility that WWE could make alternative arrangements in a venue with greatly reduced capacity and social distancing in place.

Like everything in the news at the moment, we will need to watch this space.
