Multiple matches and segments, including an NXT Championship match, have been announced by WWE for next week’s edition of NXT.
Karrion Kross will defend his NXT Championship against Finn Balor on May 25th. This is a re-match from NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver Night 2. In their previous meeting, Kross became a 2-time NXT Champion by pinning Balor. A “Prime Target” video package, which featured appearances from Paul Heyman and Pat McAfee, aired on last night’s show, building hype for next week’s bout.
Bobby Fish, who has not competed since NXT Takeover: War Games, will make his in-ring return against Pete Dunne. The former Undisputed ERA member was out of action for 6 months following a triceps injury suffered in the War Games match. Dunne was part of the opposing team that night. The Bruiserweight has sought competition lately on NXT and Fish believes the two have unfinished business.
William Regal announced that NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez & Dakota Kai will face Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon next week. Both teams are former NXT Women’s Tag Team champions and have declared their intentions to challenge for the titles. The NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships are currently held by Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell of The Way.
Elsewhere, a “Million Dollar Face-Off” between Ted DiBiase and Cameron Grimes was announced last night. DiBiase has been a thorn in the side of Grimes for several weeks on NXT, which culminated with The Million Dollar Man costing Grimes a match with Jake Atlas.
Franky Monet’s “World Premiere” is also advertised for next Tuesday. The former Taya Valkyrie will finally make her anticipated NXT in-ring debut, although no opponent has been confirmed as of this writing. Franky Monet has made multiple appearances interrupting NXT superstars in the weeks following Takeover.
