As confirmed on last night’s Smackdown Live, both the men’s and the women’s Money In The Bank Matches will this year take place simultaneously.
The show will take place on Sunday May 10th with the majority of the matches taking place at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando and for the first time in some time, fans could well be in attendance after a new ruling from the state of Florida.
The Money In The Bank matches themselves will take place at WWE’s corporate headquarters in Stamford Connecticut. The building affectionately known as Titan Towers. Both matches have already been taped and the team at Hooked On Wrestling had already speculated these matches would be taking place together based on the leaked images from the set which depicted the two briefcases hanging above the ring at the same time. Competitors will need to start the match on the ground floor of the building and must ‘climb the corporate ladder’ to grab the contract that guarantees them a title shot at any time of their choosing.
Both Carmella and Otis qualified for the match with victories on Smackdown Live over Mandy Rose and Dolph Ziggler respectively. They will join Nia Jax, Shayna, Baszler, Dana Brooke, Asuka, Lacey Evans, Daniel Bryan, Alestair Black, Rey Mysterio and King Corbin. The final male competitor will be decided on Monday Night Raw in a gauntlet match to determine who will replace the (kayfabe) injured Apollo Crews.
Having both matches intertwined should provide an even more exciting spin on WWE’s latest cinematic style match with a concept that has seemed to be well received by fans.
Money In The Bank will be broadcast on the WWE Network on Sunday May 10th. Other matches on the card include Drew McIntyre defending the WWE Championship against Seth Rollins, Tamina challenging Bayley for the Smackdown Women’s Championship and Braun Strowman facing The Fiend with the WWE Universal Championship on the line.
