WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley took to Twitter on New Year’s Day to announce that he has been self isolating for 18 days after testing positive for COVID-19.
Foley states the belief that he caught the virus at a virtual signing event in early December, admitting that he did take his mask off at the event.
The former WWE Champion has been completely self-isolating for 18 days in a hotel room away from his entire family. Those familiar with Foley away from the ring will how this will be more of a wrench for him that most. Foley is an enormous ‘Christmas Mark’, even going so far as to have an entire room at his house dedicated to the festive season.
To be forced to spend Christmas Day alone and away from the family home will have been even more of a blow than at any other time of the year.
On Twitter, he said:
I tested positive for COVID following a December virtual signing, and have been isolating in a hotel room for the past 18 days. Please continue to take this virus seriously – mask up, social distance, look out for one another. Wishing all of you a happy, healthy new year.
Clearly Foley wants to use his positive case to reinforce to others that they must continue to protect themselves and others against contracting COVID-19.
The man once known as Cactus Jack says he did suffer symptoms but is on the path to recovery.
Please stay vigilant guys. As Mick Foley’s case demonstrates, we are a long way from being able to let our guard down during this pandemic.
