WWE ‘Black Wednesday’ Superstars Due To Become Free Agents This Week

The majority of the superstars released by WWE on ‘Black Wednesday’ in April will be free to appear for any other company from this week. Where will they turn up?

The Good Brothers

On Wednesday 15th April, news began to drip out throughout the day regarding the release of a significant number of Superstars.

As the COVID-19 pandemic took hold throughout the world, WWE announced the release of a number of well known names at the same time as large swathes of their employees were either furloughed or let go from the company.

As is customary for the majority of WWE talent releases, all of the stars released that day were subject to 90 day no-compete clauses.

Well, those clauses run out this week so things may be about to get interesting in the wrestling world.

Depending on the specific dates of the releases, those talents should be officially let loose on the open market either on July 14th or 15th. Either way, that SHOULD mean those talents are available to appear on this week’s AEW Dynamite and certainly on Impact Wrestling’s Slammiversary PPV on Saturday July 18th.

Impact have already heavily or subtly teased that a number of talent will be making their debut at the PPV so we eagerly await to see which ones they are.

The 90 day clause does not apply to NXT talent released. They were subject to a separate 30 day period.
