On this week’s SmackDown, WWE set up two huge matches that are likely to have implications for WWE Fastlane and beyond.
The first match set is Nia Jax challenging Sasha Banks for the SmackDown Women’s Title. The match came about after a distration from Jax and Shayna Baszler caused Banks and Bianca Belair to lose to Natalya and Tamina. Reginald immediately suggested the match and it was confirmed by WWE official Adam Pearce.
The match will take place just two days before Jax and Baszler defend their Women’s Tag Team Championship against Banks and Belair at the Fastlane PPV.
The second match next week will see Edge face Jey Uso in a one on one encounter. The winner will be appointed as the special enforcer for the Universal Championship match between Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan at the PPV.
Uso originally named himself in the position before Edge took umbrage with that idea and suggested they should face off to decide who should be in that spot.
Edge’s last match on SmackDown was on 5th April 2011 so it will be the first time he laces up his boots on the blue brand in almost exactly a decade.
