Toni Storm Wasn’t Set For WWE Royal Rumble Until The Last Minute

It seems like one of the top competitors on the black and gold brand wasn’t originally scheduled for the WWE Royal Rumble.

Toni Storm

We always expect a few surprises in the WWE Royal Rumble – but it seems like their own participation was a surprise to one woman.

Toni Storm, despite being one of the contenders to the NXT Women’s Championship, was only a last-minute addition.

This is according to a report by Fightful Select, who claim the Aussie was only added after Mia Yim was forced to withdraw.

Toni Storm actually wasn’t originally planned for the Rumble match, and ended up serving as an alternate when Yim couldn’t make it.

Neither Yim or her partner Keith Lee were part of their respective Rumble matches, after Yim tested positive for COVID-19 just days before.

Storm will face Io Shirai and Mercedes Martinez in a triple-threat match at NXT Vengeance Day, and you can find out all the details of the event here.
