Title Change Makes WWE History At WrestleMania Backlash

At WrestleMania Backlash, WWE history was made with the sole title change that took place at WWE’s first post-WrestleMania event.

At last night’s WrestleMania Backlash, we saw the SmackDown Tag Team Championship change hands when Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik defeated The Dirty Dawgs (Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode).

The change was genuinely historic as the pair became the first father and son duo to win tag team gold in WWE.

Although the change was widely predicted by most observers, WWE effectively cast doubt on the outcome after Ziggler and Roode attacked Dominik backstage prior to the match. This seemingly put the younger Mysterio on the shelf and turned the title match into a handicap match with Rey starting the match by himself.

However, Dominik shook off his injuries and joined his old man to snare the first gold of his professional wrestling career after his in ring debut at SummerSlam last year. This ended the roughly four-month reign for Ziggler and Roode after they defeated The Street Profits in early January.
