WWE Hall of Famer and multiple time WCW, NWA & TNA World Champion Sting has teased a return to action on Twitter.

Clearly riffing off the acclaimed WWE series ‘the Last Ride’ which was based around the Undertaker’s last matches, the tweet has seen fans speculating that Sting could make an in-ring return.

The Tweet has drawn light hearted responses from the likes of Renee Young and Kevin Nash, both of whom chose to avoid the implications of an in ring return.

Sting last wrestled on 20th September 2015 when he was injured during his WWE World Heavyweight Title challenge against Seth Rollins. Choosing not to have surgery, the Stinger officially retired in April 2016 before being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Fans have long speculated about a Sting vs. Undertaker bout as a dream match that never took place and Sting has himself talked about wanting the match.

While Sting and the Undertaker never faced off in their most celebrated 90s incarnations, they have tangled in the past. The surfer version of Sting defended the NWA World Heavyweight Championship against ‘Mean’ Mark Callous at a house show in Greensboro, North Carolina on September 1st, 1990. Just a few months later, Callous would move to WWE and be repackaged as the Undertaker.

There are no indications of Sting being in talks with WWE or anyone else and he is reportedly out of contract.

While a match with The Undertaker seems unlikely could Sting be considering a ‘last ride’ or is he just trolling us?

If Sting did make a return, who would you want to see him face? Would it be in WWE or somewhere else, like New Japan or AEW? Give us your thoughts on Twitter by tagging @HO_Wrestling
