Oooooo…. we’re close. SO close to this year’s WrestleMania. I don’t think any of us here at HOW expect anything except the Reigns/Bryan/Edge Triple Threat match to headline Night Two but the main event of Night One has had us thinking “Will it be the SmackDown Women’s Championship match or will it be the Men’s World title match?”
Sasha Banks has been very vocal in interviews this week that her title defence against ‘The EST of WWE’ Bianca Belair will be the fight to close the show and Stephanie McMahon has confirmed it today. Speaking to Bill Simmons McMahon has said the following:
“Sasha and Bianca, who is newer, are going to be headlining night one of WrestleMania. That’s going to be special and spectacular. I can’t wait to see their match. I’ve always known that Sasha could be right at the top. She just has that ‘it’ factor. She just shines. Ultimately, it’s not my decision. I’m certainly very excited for Sasha to have this moment. During the pandemic, I’ve actually heard fans credit Bayley and Sasha for carrying things during the pandemic with their storyline and I think they did. I’m so grateful to them for doing so.”
The last (and only) time a Women’s match headlined WrestleMania was when Becky Lynch won both RAW and SmackDown titles against Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair in a Triple Threat match at WrestleMania back in 2019. If you want to see which matches are happening when and how to watch, we’ve got you covered with our WrestleMania viewing guide right here!
