It was another eventful week on Dynamite, not least with two new characters introduced seemingly out of nowhere.
One was very cleverly played, with the original announcement being for Anna Jay being in action and a hype package shown for her, but she wasn’t the focus of the match.
Her opponent for the evening was Adabon, a wrestler who had only previously appeared for the company on Dark against Hikaru Shida on 4th March in Denver.
Abadon, the name and ghoulish character seemingly coming from the Hebrew word Abaddon meaning a bottomless pit of destruction, picked up the win in short order, and was confirmed as signing with AEW on Twitter shortly after.
This doesn’t seem to be the end for Anna Jay as she was helped from the ring by The Dark Order, so being used in this way shouldn’t hurt her in the long run.
In contrast, Ricky Starks debut came about as he answered Cody’s open challenge for the TNT Championship.
Tony Khan similarly took to Twitter to welcome Starks to the company.
Starks was announced on commentary as being “perhaps the hottest free agent” in wrestling, and his credentials as the inaugural NWA Television Champion on the belt’s return (albeit for two days) help give him the notoriety to come straight into a match with Cody.
