This week’s episode of WWE SmackDown airs on Christmas Day and as a result, WWE elected to tape the show on Tuesday night to air on tape delay.
The taped show contained multiple title matches including three title matches.
The biggest news coming out of the taping is Big E defeating Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship in a Lumberjack match in the main event of the show.
This was a title change many fans predicted and represents Big E’s first title success since his singles push and amicable split from The New Day.

In the other singles title match, Universal Champion Roman Reigns put his title on the line in a cage match against Kevin Owens.
In this rematch from Sunday’s TLC PPV, Reigns retained his title after Owens was handcuffed to the cage by Reigns’ cousin Jey Uso.
The third and final title match saw the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Asuka and Charlotte Flair retain their belts in a triple threat elimination match against the teams of Bayley and Carmella and Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair. Bayley and Carmella were the first team eliminated when Bayley was pinned by the SmackDown Women’s champ, Banks.
Banks and Belair were then defeated in a dominant performance from the champions.
Also, in a non-title match, Daniel Bryan defeated Jey Uso. Bryan is rumoured to be the facing Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble.
