With Fastlane taking place in little over a week’s time, the card is finally starting to take shape.
A third match was added on this week’s SmackDown that will see Big E defending his Intercontinental Championship against Apollo Crews.
The former New Day member returned from an injury sustained at the hands of Crews this week, issuing an open challenge that was answered unsuccessfully by Sami Zayn.
After the match, Crews attacked his rival as it was confirmed the two will face off at the first event to be broadcast on the Peacock streaming service.
The two have developed quite a rivalry recently. Two title match victories for Big E recently resulted in Crews viciously attacking his former friend and putting him on the injured list. In E’s absence, Crews underwent a significant gimmick change to go with his new found heel outlook. Two weeks ago on SmackDown Crews revealed that he would be going back to his roots to display the ‘real’ version of himself, a descendant of Nigerian royalty.
With something of a strong grudge built effectively between the two, this could prove to be an excellent midcard match on the PPV.
