According to AEW owner Tony Khan, tonight’s Fyter Fest event will see an announcement that will ‘send shockwaves through the world of professional wrestling’
The card, set to be headlined by Chris Jericho vs. Orange Cassidy, was taped last week and will see the AEW World Tag Team Championship defended as well as The Young Bucks teaming with FTR in an 8-man tag team match.
According to Khan, the announcement will be made by Taz and Brian Cage in an interview with Tony Schiavone.
Brian Cage was originally supposed to challenge for the AEW World Title on this week’s show. That match has been postponed due to champion Jon Moxley isolating at home as a precaution to do his wife, Renee Young, contracting COVID-19.
The match will instead take place on Wednesday 15th July at Fight For The Fallen.
What could this announcement be? So far there has been no indication. However it must be said, Khan’s record in hyping major announcements has been patchy to say the least. It could be something genuinely major of course. It could also be that Cage intends to wear orange trunks for next week’s title match.
The only way to find out first is to watch Fyter Fest. Viewers outside the US can find the show on FITE. The full match card is as follows:
