In a non-title match on RAW this week, Asuka defeated Peyton Royce with the Asuka Lock submission and as she was celebrating in the ring, Rhea Ripley’s music hit.
Ripley got in the ring and straight on to the microphone, saying that Asuka is one of the greatest Women’s champions in WWE history. She went on to say:
“The last I saw, Charlotte Flair was out here challenging for the RAW Women’s Championship, while you were recovering from having your teeth knocked out. Now Charlotte Flair isn’t here, she’s actually recovering from COVID. So, Asuka, I’m gonna need an answer. On my first official night here on RAW, I challenge you to a Championship match as WrestleMania!”
Asuka took the mic from Ripley and replied in Japanese before announcing:
“You are not ready for Asuka. I accept.”
This will be Ripley’s second WrestleMania appearance, having lost the NXT Women’s Championship to Charlotte Flair at last years PPV. It will be Asuka’s first title defence since November 2020 when she beat Lana on RAW. This one is going to be brutal.
