The WWE Draft, it’s a new start, yes it is. A Tweet from the hugely reliable source, WrestleVotes suggests that WWE plan to use the upcoming draft to reunite one of their most successful stables of all time.
According to this report, WWE plan to use the draft (That is apparently planned for early September) to reunited The New Day trio of Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.
The trio had been a firm stable since 2014 with not so much as a hint of dissension in that time. Even during Kofi Kingston’s beloved run to Kofi-Mania and a WWE Championship run in 2019 saw the stable remain intact.
However, in October last year, during the 2020 WWE Draft, Woods and Kingston were drafted to Raw with their stablemate Big E left on SmackDown. Reports at the time suggested that this was to give E a long-discussed singles run away from the stable. In the short term, these plans seemed to be on track with an Intercontinental Championship win over Sami Zayn coming soon after the split. Since then, however, E’s flame has burned less brightly with an elongated feud with Apollo Crews taking up most of his screen time including a title loss at WrestleMania 37 in April.
If The New Day reunite, even as a looser affiliation than previously, this will be seen as WWE rowing back on previous creative plans. It will also come in the aftermath of another main event run for Kofi Kingston as he is scheduled to face Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship at Money In The Bank on Sunday July 18th. At the same event, Big E has been mentioned as one of the frontrunners to win the Money In The Bank briefcase.
With the draft around two months away, plans can and will change. Will The New Day reunite once again on the red brand? Time will tell.
