Report: Vince McMahon Considering Son Shane As New Head Of Raw

Reports suggest that WWE chairman Vince McMahon is poised to appoint his son Shane as the head of Raw, taking the burden of running both main shows from Bruce Prichard.

According to a report by Alex McCarthy in Sportskeeda, Bruce Prichard may soon have a couple more hours in the day to work on his ‘Something To Wrestle With’ podcast.

Sources have told McCarthy that Vince McMahon is considering handing the position of Raw’s Executive Director to his son, Shane McMahon.

Shane had not been seen on screen since late 2019 until he appeared on Raw two weeks to launch the ‘Raw Underground’ format. However, in that time, multiple reports have surfaced that the younger McMahon has been taking up a position of increasing influence in planning and running shows. He has often been seen at his father’s side during shows at the Performance Center.

Prichard returned to Raw after a 13 year absence in March 2019. In November of that year he replaced Eric Bischoff as head of SmackDown. Upon Heyman’s departure he expanded his role to cover Raw as well. He is known to want/need to lighten his workload so the rumours of Shane taking that position make an enormous amount of sense.

Shane had previously worked as the head of WWE’s international distribution division until he departed from the company in 2009. He returned in 2016, purely in an on air capacity at first. He has taken on more and more executive duties as time has gone on.
