According to a report from SEScoops, former Impact Wrestling World Champion Tessa Blanchard is set to sign for AEW.
She will supposedly be joined in the company by her husband Daga who recently vacated the AAA Latin American Championship.
Blanchard, who became the first woman to win the world title of a major US promotion when she won the Impact title in January 2020, was released from the promotion in June 2020 when terms could not be agreed on a new contract.
Her free agency sparked immediate speculation that she would quickly sign with AEW or WWE but neither seemed to show initial interest. Blanchard’s perceived attitude issues, stemming from accusations by many of her peers, seemingly prevented either company from wanting to add her to their locker room as a potential disruptive force.
If reports are to believed, AEW are now willing to put these issues aside in order to strengthen their women’s division.
