It has been reported by PWInsider that multiple time former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar is now officially a free agent.

Having not appeared for WWE since losing the belt to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania, Lesnar has not appeared on TV since. In fact, he has barely been mentioned at all.

It has been mentioned previously that WWR did not want to use Lesnar until crowds return and with his existing deal expiring, it may be that WWE see an opportunity to save some money while they perceive interest in Lesnar as a free agent to be low.

If Lesnar were to test the open market in normal circumstances, interest would be expected from numerous sources such as AEW, NJPW, UFC and even Bellator. However, with Lesnar retired from MMA and wrestling companies without significant ticket revenue keeping a close eye on costs, WWE may be gambling that interest in The Beast will be lower than during previous contract negotiations.

Lesnar is currently in the midst of his longest absence from WWE since his 2012 return which will fuel speculation about his future. However it must be said that WWE must be confident in their course of action rather than leave Lesnar potentially to be snapped up by a rival.

Lesnar’s merchandise has also been removed from WWE’s website, which is standard practise for a talent not under contract so should not be considered an indicator that the relationship is over.
