With the surprise release of Zelina Vega by WWE, many outlets have jumped to conclusions on the reasoning.
Most believe it stems from Vega’s refusal to terminate her Twitch account despite WWE’s recent edict.
However, according to the reliable WWE insider, WrestleVotes, there may be other factors in play.
According to their sources, SmackDown superstar, and Vega’s husband, Aleister Black recently had a request denied to move back to the NXT brand.
The former NXT champion has had a mixed run on the main roster since his call up to Raw just before WrestleMania 35 in 2019.
Having come in with some fanfare, Black was said to be a favourite of the man then in charge of the brand, Paul Heyman. However, his potential push evaporated with Heyman’s removal from his post.
Since the summer, Black has had something of a refresh of his character with a heel turn and tweaked presentation leading to a feud with Kevin Owens.
However, since his move to SmackDown in last month’s draft he has done very little and it is easy to see why he may have requested the move.
It is merely speculation as to whether this has anything at all to do with Vega’s release but the timing of the rumour is interesting.
