New Japan Pro-Wrestling have brought back their big shows in some style this weekend.

Saturday’s final of the New Japan Cup saw EVIL scoop the huge upset win over Kazuchika Okada to confirm himself as the challenger for both the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Titles held by Tetsuya Naito at today’s Dominion PPV.

The finale was marked by EVIL’s defection from Naito’s Los Ingobernables de Japon faction to join the group that helped him secure the win over Okada, Bullet Club.

If that was considered an upset, it had nothing on the main event of Dominion as Evil defeated Naito to win both of his former stablemate’s titles.

The finish saw a man in a BUSHI mask attack and choke Naito leading to EVIL hitting his Everything Is Evil finisher to cause the biggest upset in NJPW in years.

Arguably even more shocking was the reveal of the masked man. He took off his hood to reveal none other than former Kaientai member Dick Togo!

All in all, it was a shocking and exciting end to NJPW’s first major show since Wrestle Kingdom 14 in early January.

It will be fascinating to see the fall out with EVIL clearly positioned as New Japan’s latest main event star.
