Last night’s AEW Dynamite featured the culmination of the feud between Best Friends and Santana and Ortiz, in the form of a Parking Lot Brawl.
It hasn’t taken long for the match to earn plaudits from within the industry, in particular from Mick Foley.
The hardcore legend posted a video on Twitter discussing the match, calling it “an outstanding match”.
I’ve got to be honest, I’d be hard pressed to tell you what I could have done any better than those guys did. That was an outstanding match. I know it sounds crazy to say they were safe, lots of abrasions and bruises that I know everyone’s going to be feeling for a while but they were as safe as they could be under the circumstances. The offence was really innovative, all the stuff looked great, and it was fun as well. So that’s the type of match you shouldn’t have very often, but if you are going to do it, you might as well go all out, and all four of those guys did. So really, really, well done. Two thumbs way up from the hardcore legend!
Ortiz has responded to the video, thanking Foley for the compliments.
Talking about having a match of this type of match himself, Mrs Foley’s Baby Boy would have loved one – and had a particular opponent in mind.
It’s one thing I always wanted to do, I always wanted to have a big match in a parking lot, maybe on a pay-per-view. I remember pitching the idea for me and Vader particularly.
