On night one of AEW’s New Year’s Smash, we saw the apparent formation of a particularly ‘sweet’ new main event faction – including the debut of Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson!

At the conclusion of the main event, which saw Kenny Omega successfully defend the AEW World Championship against Rey Fenix, Omega and manager Don Callis directed our attention to the screen where we saw Eddie Kingston, Butcher, Blade, and The Bunny with Pénta El Zero M and Pac laid out.

Callis then instructs Omega to hit another One-Winged Angel on Fenix but before he can, Jon Moxley hit the ring with a barbed-wire baseball bat in hand and attacked Omega. He turned his attention to Callis for a moment, however, Impact Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows appeared to make the save.

The trio the began laying into Moxley until members of the AEW roster who were sat at ringside jumped to try and intervene but were quickly dispatched by Omega, Anderson and Gallows.

Following this, AEW EVP’s Matt and Nick Jackson, The Young Bucks, came down to stop the three men attacking Moxley any further. There seemed to be an argument taking place between them all when Griff Garrison and Brian Pillman Jr grabbed Omega from outside the ring.

In unison, Gallows decked Garrison with his IMPACT Tag-Team Championship belt while Matt Jackson superkicked Pillman Jr.

AEW then went off the air with all 5 standing in the ring holding up the ‘Too-Sweet’ hand gesture.
