Those paying close attention may have noticed a significant change hidden in plain sight on last week’s WWE SmackDown and this week’s Raw.

For the first time, potentially ever, WWE did not have ring announcers in the ring to announce the competitors in the matches on the shows.

Whilst no official word has been forthcoming on this change, the logical suggestion is that it is a precaution put in place to reduce the potential for the spread of COVID-19 infection.

If that is the case, we can expect the change to be temporary. However, WWE have shown many times over the years that little is sacred when it comes to the traditional wrestling tropes. Could this change be more permanent?

Time will tell, ladies and gentlemen.
