Kairi Sane’s WWE departure has been rumoured for weeks with conflicting reports on timings, reasons and even whether it would happen at all.
Last night, following Raw, we were given a definitive answer. The former NXT Women’s Champion and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion said her goodbyes to the company and has officially left WWE.
The news was soon confirmed by WWE.com.
Sane joined WWE in 2017, entering and winning the inaugural Mae Young Classic tournament by defeating Shayna Baszler in the final. She soon joined NXT and in August 2018, defeated Baszler again to win her first and only NXT Women’s title.
In April 2019, Sane moved to the new roster to form a tag-team with Asuka known as The Kabuki Warriors, managed by Paige. October of that year saw the team snare the tag team titles from Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross, turn heel and drop Paige as their manager.
The duo transitioned back to face roles earlier this year where they have been ever since, most recently feuding with Sasha Banks and Bayley.
Sane returns to Japan, reportedly to spend more time with her husband, the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental champion, EVIL.
Sane penned a heartfelt note to her WWE fans on her personal Twitter page as The Pirate Princess sets sail on a new adventure.
