The Forbidden Door continues to be kicked open as this week on AEW Dynamite we found out that a New Japan Pro Wrestling Championship will be defended on Dynamite for the first time.

No surprises for guessing that it will be the IWGP United States Championship currently held by Jon Moxley. He will defend against NJPW legend Yuji Nagata on May 12th.

The defence will be Moxley’s first time putting the title on the line since his match against KENTA on February 26th.

Moxley won the title from Lance Archer at Wrestle Kingdom in January 2019. He barely defended the title between that win and the victory over KENTA due to the COVID-19 pandemic making international travel highly problematic.

Nagata is a NJPW veteran and two-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion, having last won the championship in 2007. In recent years he has fallen down the card somewhat but still represents an iconic and exciting match up for Moxley.
