Jon Moxley Makes NJPW Return

IWGP United States Champion Jon Moxley has made his return to NJPW programming after a near 12 month absence to confront his next challenger, KENTA.

IWGP United States Champion had been absent from NJPW events since ‘New Beginnings In Osaka’ last February.

Until Friday night.

On this week’s episode of the US based NJPW Strong show, Moxley returned to confront the number one contender to his title, KENTA.

Moxley has been unable to defend his title for a year due travel (and health) restrictions around the COVID-19 pandemic. In the meantime, KENTA had won the New Japan Cup USA to put the two on a collision course for the belt.

On the show, KENTA and his BULEET CLUB cohorts El Phanstasmo and Hikuleo faced Lio, Fred Rosser (Darren Young) and TJP. After their victory, BC carried on the attack on the former WWE trio before the lights went out. When they came back on, Moxley was standing in the ring, ready to finally accept KENTA’s challenge.

Grabbing the microphone he addressed his challenger, saying, “I’ll see you in Tokyo one of these days, however we gotta get it done, we’ll get it done!”

Following this incident and Moxley’s video appearance on Wrestle Kingdom, it’s clear that his in-ring NJPW return is imminent. The clash of styles between the champion and challenger is sure to make for a fascinating match up.
