Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport events have been a critical winner over the last few years for Game Changer Wrestling (GCW). The gritty, MMA influenced pro-wrestling events have built a strong nice audience and the main event of this weekend’s Bloodsport 5 was the most anticipated contest yet.
The match itself saw former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley defeat the previously unbeaten Davey Boy Smith Jr. by knockout.
Going into the bout, Smith had been undoubtedly the biggest force in Bloodsport so far with a 4-0 record coming into this show. His opponent was stepping into the arena for the second time after his victory over Chris Dickinson in October 2020.
The match ended abruptly when Moxley hit a Paradigm Shift DDT on Smith, resulting in a knockout finish.
After the match, Josh Barnett himself appeared on screen to announce that as Moxley preaches the need to test himself against new opponents, he would step forward and take on the former AEW Champion himself at Bloodsport 6 on Thursday 6th April.
The match will take place in Tampa, Florida as the city gears up for WrestleMania that Saturday and Sunday.
Barnett and Moxley were previously supposed to face off at Bloodsport 2 but Moxley’s MRSA infection.
Bloodsport 6 will be available to watch on FITE. If you are a fan of the harder hitting, no frills side of wrestling, do not sleep on these events.
Imagine Raw Underground but you know, actually good.
