Almost all the WWE gold was on the line at WWE TLC… Almost.

The Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn ended up competing in an eight-man tag on the kick-off show.

With Big E on the other side, Zayn tried to stay away from the big man as much as possible.

This came about after Big E won the Wrestler Of The Year award in the ‘Sami Awards’ – something Zayn was not expecting.

The match ended when Big E did get his hands on the Intercontinental Champion, hit the big ending a got the pin.

As a result of this, Zayn will now defend the title against Big E this coming Friday on SmackDown.

There’s certainly a strong possibility that this could be another step in the rise of Big E’s singles career, although we hope Zayn can keep what momentum he has going as well.
