Ring Of Honor released a statement last night to announce the passing of Xavier at the age of just 43.

Xavier, real name John Bedoya is said to have passed ‘suddenly and unexpectedly’ but no information has been released about the cause of death.

Xavier made his ROH debut on their first ever show in February 2002. He was the second ever ROH World Champion. He defeated inaugural champion Low Ki in September 2002.

He held the belt until March 2003 when he was defeated by Samoa Joe.

Xavier last wrestled for ROH in 2007 and retired from wrestling in 2011. He had been due to come out of retirement to face Jay Lethal at the ‘ROH Past and Present’ event this past March in Las Vegas. The event was cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hooked On Wrestling extends its condolences to John Bedoya’s family, friends and fans.
