Finn Balor Makes SmackDown Return After Two Year Main Roster Absence

We were promised surprises on this week’s SmackDown and the return of Finn Balor after a two year absence from the WWE main roster was just that.

Sami Zayn came to Smackdown this week in full on conspiracy mode, doing his best to rally the newly returned crowd to his cause.

However, the former Intercontinental Champion was interrupted mid rant. It turned out it wasn’t just the WWE Universe making their return, Finn Bálor was making his too.

The inaugural WWE Universal Champion Finn Bálor was last seen on WWE NXT in May when he came up short against Karrion Kross but all that seems to be behind him as he came to the ring in front of the live WWE crowd to take out Sami Zayn with a Coup De Grace, sending him packing.

His return was one of the ‘surprises’ we had been led to expect as crowds returned to WWE programming for SmackDown this week. Balor had not been seen on the main roster since his loss to The Fiend at SummerSlam in 2019. An absence of nigh on two years.

He returns to WWE with a character much more akin to his ‘Prince Devitt’ persona used prior to joining WWE.
