At the conclusion of this week’s SmackDown, Edge made his long awaited WWE return to seemingly set up the Money In The Bank main event.

The main event segment of SmackDown this week featured Roman Reigns in a ‘State Of The Universal Championship’ address.

What began with an excuse for Roman Reigns to pat himself on the back ended up with him flat on his back after he was attacked by a returning Edge!

The moment came after Roman ran down all the opponents he had conquered since becoming Universal Champion in August 2020. As he declared he had cleared out the division, a familiar song hit the Thunderdome.

You think you know him?

Edge hit the ring for his first appearance since his loss in a triple threat match to Reigns (Also including Daniel Bryan) at WrestleMania 37 on April 11th.

The Hall of Famer attempted his patented Con-Chair-To on the champion but he was rescued by his cousin Jimmy Uso.

The attack very clearly positions Edge as the challenger for the Universal Championship at Money In The Bank on Sunday July 18th as WWE finally welcomes capacity crowds back to the arena. We have the updated card and all the other info you need about Money In The Bank at our handy explainer guide.
