As noted by Sean Ross Sapp (Fightful.com), two of WWE’s biggest attractions are being advertised for upcoming WWE events. The Fiend is scheduled to appear on the August 9th Raw, whilst Edge is advertised for SmackDown on September 3rd.
The Fiend’s latest showing was at WrestleMania in April. Bray Wyatt’s sinister alter ego was defeated by Randy Orton, following a distraction from Alexa Bliss. The Fiend has appeared sporadically after he was burned alive at WWE’s TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs show in December. Despite fan speculation, no concrete reason has been provided for his absence. An August 9th appearance would allow for adequate time to begin a storyline which could lead to a match at SummerSlam on August 21st.
Likewise, Edge has not competed since the second night of WrestleMania, which he main-evented. The Rated-R Superstar unsuccessfully challenged for Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship in a Triple Threat Match that also involved Daniel Bryan. According to Sean Ross Sapp, the WWE Hall Of Famer had planned to take time off after WrestleMania. Edge is contracted to wrestle five matches per year, meaning he still has dates to fulfil in 2021.
It appears WWE are striving to pull out all the stops, including a star-studded roster and themed shows, following their return to the road in July. Excited yet?
