Two-time TNT Champion Cody was announced to the ring with the Rhodes surname for the first time in AEW, but this was not the only shocking moment in his defence against Darby Allin.
The match culminated in Rhodes and Allin exchanging pins, with Allin surprising many and getting the three count to become new TNT Champion.
‘The American Nightmare’ presented the belt to the new title-holder, however Taz would cut the celebrations short and demand Rhodes and Allin leave.
Before they could they were attacked from behind by the rest of Team Taz, as Brian Cage and Ricky Starks took out both men in the ring before putting Allin through part of the set on the outside.
They looked to cause further damage to Allin by trapping his arm in the door of the car he used for his entrance, but were chased off by Will Hobbs.
This could set up future challenges for the TNT title – and also could show some future for the FTW belt.
On an interesting side note, Darby Allin becomes the first male singles champion in AEW to have not competed in WWE.
