The first AEW Women’s World Champion Riho hasn’t been seen in the company since the first empty arena show back in March.
After competing in the four-way with Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander and Penelope Ford, she went home to Japan and travel restrictions have prevented her from returning.
This weekend she posted a picture on Twitter wearing her Stardom jacket.
This led to some speculation that she may have signed for the Joshi promotion, which also caused some to consider she had been released by AEW.
A number of European talents were released earlier this year, mainly seemingly due to travel restrictions, and it could be considered she would be let go in a similar fashion.
However, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer has confirmed that she is still signed with AEW.
Riho has been working for Stardom whilst back in her native Japan, which Meltzer also comments is “what constitutes a real-life independent contractor”.
With Pac returning to AEW on last week’s Dynamite, we can hope this is a sign Riho will also be returning soon.
