Yesterday we reported that the status of NXT UK was subject to speculation. Sources had suggested that following a number of recent challenges, their had been discussions within WWE with regards to shuttering the brand.
Since those reports emerged, there have been conflicting stories that, in fact, the brand’s future is not in immediate doubt.
Alex McCarthy of TalkSPORT tweeted to say he has been given information the directly contradicts previous reports.
Two things:— Alex McCarthy (@AlexM_talkSPORT) June 28, 2020
Tessa Blanchard likely landing spot is WWE at this point. Still early, but there’s only obvious interest from WWE right now I’m told.
I’m also told WWE are not looking at cancelling NXT UK in the short term/near future. Pretty emphatically, too.
As you can see, in the same tweet, McCarthy asserts strongly that Tessa Blanchard’s next stop will be WWE rather than AEW.
Time will of course tell whether the brand will be re-activated after the current pandemic induced hibernation.
