Cody Rhodes seems to be carving a new space for himself in AEW with numerous TNT Championship defences against mystery or unsigned talent now under his belt.
However, ‘The American Nightmare’ has indicated that he doesn’t plan to continue wrestling for too long, and aims to retire in around five years.
In an interview with PWInsider, Cody also discussed his confidence in the ring and how he plans to use this to help develop talent in that time.
I’m only going to be doing this for five more years and for the next five years, I really want to carve out that bell-to-bell aspect of what I was able to do. I’ve always been very confident in myself in the ring and I try not to be overly confident, but we’re dealing with different athletes now and we’re drawing from all walks of life in terms of the wrestling world.
The latest challenger, albeit unsuccessful, to the TNT Championship was Eddie Kingston, with ‘The American Nightmare’ set to continue these weekly challenges for the title.
