News has filtered through that World Of Sport Wrestling legend Mark ‘Rollerball’ Rocco has sadly passed away.

Rocco was one of the greatest villains in the history of British wrestling, engaging in classic matches with The Dynamite Kid, Fit Finlay, Marty Jones, Chic Cullen and many, many more.

He was one of the mainstays of both Joint Promotions and All Star Wrestling during the era when Saturday afternoon wrestling on ITV would be one of the highest rated programmes on television.

He also spent time in New Japan Pro Wrestling where he wrestled as the villanous Black Tiger, a rival to Satoru Sayama’s Tiger Mask character.

There series of matches was sensational and more than stands the test of time. If you are a fan of the Japanese or British style, these matches are must watch.

Rollerball retired in 1991 and spent most of his time living in Tenerife, out of the spotlight.

His last prominent television role was as part of the judging panel on TNA’s British Bootcamp series in 2012.

RIP Rollerball. Truly one of the legends of British Wrestling.
