Last week on Dynamite, AEW revealed that this summer we would see the first ever Deadly Draw women’s tag team tournament.
Details were scarce around the announcement. All we knew was that the tournament would see 16 women and 8 teams take part, with the first announced participants being Brandi Rhodes and Allie, The Nightmare Sisters.
Last night on Dynamite we were given a lot more detail on the tournament including the start date, the format and even a look at the trophy up for grabs.
What we now know is that the teams in the tournament will be drawn at random. Each participant will draw a colour and be matched up with the other woman drawing the same colour. This will likely mean that The Nightmare Sisters find themselves on different teams.
Once the teams have been decided, they will be randomly placed into an eight team bracket for a traditional single elimination tournament.
The first pairing were announced on last night’s episode of Dynamite as former Women’s Champion Nyla Rose was paired with newcomer Arianne (Formerly Cameron in WWE) under the tutelage of Vickie Guerrero.
The start date of the tournament has also been announced. The first match will take place this coming Monday at 9PM EST (2AM Tuesday in the UK) on AEW’s YouTube channel.
Keep checking Hooked On Wrestling and we will update the news on the tournament as it becomes available.
