Whilst it may yet be a storyline, it is looking like AEW VP Cody Rhodes has suffered a shoulder injury on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
The American Nightmare was featured in tag team action as he and Lee Johnson picked up a victory over ‘Pretty’ Peter Avalon and Cezar Bononi.
During the finish of the match, which saw Johnson score his first pinfall in AEW, Rhodes could be seen favouring his shoulder outside the ring. Soon after the show, it was confirmed that he had suffered an injury in a video released by his coach, Arn Anderson on AEW’s Twitter page.
Soon after, AEW themselves released a statement to Wrestling Inc. saying the following:
“Following the recording of Coach’s Corner, it was confirmed by the AEW medical team that Cody Rhodes suffered a slight tear of his left rotator cuff during his tag team match on Dynamite. His current status is TBD.”
Rhodes is due to team with Red Velvet to do battle with NBA legend Shaquille O’Neill and Jade Cargill on the 3rd March episode of Dynamite. It will surely soon become apparent whether this injury is storyline related, leading into this match; or legit, thus putting question marks over the encounter.
