1989 – WWE taped the ‘match part’ of their PPV concept ‘No Holds Barred: The Match, The Movie’ at the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. The PPV was a package of the ‘No Holds Barred’ movie accompanied by a tag team match pitting Hulk Hogan and Brutus ‘The Barber Beefcake against ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage and the film’s villain, Zeus (Tiny Lister). As in the movie, the good guys prevailed.

1990 – AWA World Heavyweight Champion Larry Zbyszko surrendered the title when he signed for WCW. The title was then retired and the company wound up the following year.

1999 – WWE presented the ‘Armageddon’ PPV at the National Car Rental Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The event was most notable for the true beginnings of the ‘McMahon-Helmsley era’ when Stephanie McMahon turned on her father Vince at the conclusion of his main event street fight with Triple H. In the storyline, Triple H had drugged and married Stephanie against her will in the weeks prior. It was revealed here that it was a ruse all along with the two being in cahoots to usurp Mr. McMahon from power in WWE.

2004 – WWE ‘Armageddon’ took place at the Gwinnett Center in Atlanta, Georgia. The main event saw John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield retain the WWE Championship in a Fatal-Four Way match against Booker T, The Undertaker and Eddie Guerrero. The event though is maybe best remembered for Daniel Puder being declared the winner of the ‘$1,000,000 Tough Enough’ competition. Mike ‘The Miz’ Mizanin was the runner up. Oh, and Kurt Angle defeated Santa Claus…
